Yesterday we officially became homeowners. Yes. Homeowners. We signed a butt load of papers, got a plethora of keys (all the same) and received a rather large package of papers (copies of all the loan papers). All in exchange for a very large check that made the title company very happy. It only took 30 minutes
30 minutes to sign our lives over to a 30 year debt.
1 minute for every year of our debt. Yowzers.
Ok so maybe it wasn't exactly 30 minutes. Our appointment was at 3pm and we left the building at around 3:35pm. Well we did start a bit early. But that isn't the point. The point is that it went really fast. And there was no dinner beforehand or cigarette afterwards. We did get a nice care package from our loan officer, though.
Guess it goes to show you that if all your paperwork is to their satisfaction, the banks will be MORE than happy to let you sign your life away in exchange for a monthly payment for the next 360 months. Or 180 months. Whatever your fancy.
Ahhhh, the American Dream... one debt at a time.

I love the positive outlook you have on your debt. We all have debts. What matters is how we let them affect our lives and our disposition. I like yours. I also love the way you describe your blending family. Your blog is an encouragement to me.
